What. A. Game.
The Sixers and the Nets just played the game of the playoffs. Obviously the headline will be Franklin the Turtle trying to take on all of the Sixers, but that was an incredible game. Once the pushing match ended and the game started, it just had a different intensity. Luckily my daughter and wife were out having a girl’s day which allowed dad (me) to scream and scare our dogs after every basket, along with mention of Franklin the Turtle. Here are a few of my quick reactions after watching the game and the post-game press conferences.
- Joel Embiid is the best center in the league and it is not even close. Anyone who voted Nikola Jokic for first team all NBA should be drug tested.
- The Nets are fun and I wish the Sixers just had one of LeVert, Dinwiddie, or Russell. In that order.
- Franklin the Turtle is the guy who demands credit for every screen he sets in a pick-up game.
- The way the refs handled the whole situation with Franklin and Embiid was embarrassing for the NBA. There is no way Franklin and Butler should have been tossed… Also to giving Embiid a flagrant 1 because of a foul in Game 2 is embarrassing. Be better officials, this is the playoffs.
- Caris LeVert is the Nets best player but D’Angelo Russell thinking he is the Nets best player has been a major factor in the Sixers 3-1 lead.
- I have been back and forth on whether or not I like Jimmy Butler. I like Jimmy Butler again. He has been huge this series.
- Is there a better teammate in the NBA than TJ McConnell? The man has been completely benched yet his energy and love for his teammates has not changed at all.
- Mike Scott and his three point celebrations are amazing. Please rewatch the game just for the celebrations.
- Boban will not be playable after this round which makes Jonah Bolden’s horrific three minutes extremely discouraging.
- Embiid was amazing defensively today, also his passing was incredible today which is just another reason to be excited about the big man’s future.
- Kenny Atkinson what are you doing running an end of game play for Jarrett Allen?
- I loved how Brett did not play Embiid too much in the first half knowing he would need him down the stretch.
- Terrible JJ game today but man that 3 was so clutch….Shout out Louis!
- I STILL HAVE NOT CALMED DOWN FROM THAT GAME. GO SIXERS.
