Check Your Playoff Privilege at the Door

When talking about the playoffs, remember to be respectful to those whose teams are watching from home.

My favorite team, the Chicago Bulls, did not make the playoffs. How do I spend my time now that I can’t watch them play? Well I just draw pictures of Ja Morant or Derrick Rose in a Bulls jersey to reminisce on what once was.

Detroit, I don’t want to hear it.You made it.
Orlando? I appreciate you, thank you for recognizing you had a great season (for you standards).
Philly just shut up. Just because you hit a bump in the road doesn’t mean you were dealt a bad hand. Over half the league would gladly take the position you are currently in.
Boston? Figure it out. If Tom Brady isn’t involved are you actually ever happy with anything?
Toronto realizes that this might be their best chance ever with Kawhi returning up in the air. Thank you for focusing your energy on the PLAYOFFS, that you made, unlike some teams. I appreciate the fan bases who are grateful for their time in the Playoffs. I hate hearing 7 and 8 seeds complain about their situation, or their fans wishing they spent time tanking instead of winning.

I love watching my favorite team win. That only happened 22 times this year. 22. There will be a team who will win 16 games in the playoffs alone. Bulls could barely do that with a whole season meanwhile we have team bitter about making the Playoffs.

The LA Clippers should be the poster franchise of the NBA. Yes them. Not the Warriors or whoever else you think is so great. Take a look into the crowd the next time you see the Clippers play a home game. You know what you’ll see? People smiling. And they’re an 8 seed! Do they care? No. They are proud of their team and they are happy to make the playoffs as every team should.

And to Blazers fans, shut up. We know you are good. Anyone who keeps up with the NBA would not be surprised if you won the West (if the Warriors lose in round 2 to the Rockets). Dame is no longer this unnoticed really good player. Everyone sees him as a Superstar and without a doubt a top 10 player in the league, maybe even higher.

You know how Blazers fans ended up this way? It is because when they were a team who was under the radar and sneaking in the playoffs they still complained. They always wanted something else. And now as a 3 seed with a chance to go to the Finals they still want to cry out and say “look at me! Look at me!” Check your Playoff privilege.

Playoffs are fun. The Bulls were last there in 2017 when they went up 2-0 on the #1 seed Celtics. It was awesome. I was celebrating non-stop, then we lost 4 straight games. But I was positive. I recognized that the Playoffs don’t just happen to you every year because Bulls had missed the previous year. It honestly makes me sick that so many fans still find things to complain about when they have a successful team. To Philly, Boston, Detroit, Portland, the whole state of Utah, and OKC…your privilege is sickening
